Curtiss-Wright operators have over 40 years of experience in applying critical tolerance coatings and pioneered the development and application of solid film lubricant (SFL) coatings. With a network of seven U.S. facilities, we are the largest applicator of solid film lubricant coatings in North America. An additional facility in Evesham, U.K. applies a broad range of SFL and other coatings to steel, titanium and aluminum substrates.

Solid film lubricant coatings are effective in applications where conventional wet lubricants provide insufficient protection from high temperatures, extreme loads, wear or corrosion. We also apply other coatings that provide performance-enhancing benefits such as corrosion protection, wear resistance, electrical insulation, electromagnetic shielding and chemical agent resistance.

Market Applications:

• Commercial Aerospace (30%) – fasteners, wing and structural parts, turbine engines, rotating components (blade roots), gears, bearings, shafts, valves, pistons
• Automotive (30%) – safety & seating systems; suspension and engine hardware; steering assembly ball studs; door, window and brake hardware; metal-to-rubber bonding
• General Industrial (30%) –oil & gas process pumps/valves; construction/heavy industry fasteners, pins, gears, shafts, bearings, valves, pistons, cams, slides, latches; medical applications
• Defense (10%) – wing and structural parts, turbine engines, automotive gears, bearings, shafts, valves, pistions
